I qualified from Leeds University Medical School in 1992. After my pre-registration year working at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and the Royal Halifax Infirmary I joined the Huddersfield GP Training Scheme completing this in 1996 and then successfully passed the MRCGP. I joined Skelmanthorpe Family Doctors in 2000. My areas of interest within the Practice are Palliative Care and Mental Health. I also perform some joint injections.

MBCHB 1998 Leeds - Part Time Partner

I am originally from Southport, Merseyside and studied at Leeds University from 1993 - 1998. Having decided to stay in West Yorkshire, I initially did surgical training in Leeds and Airedale before switching to GP training. I did my training posts in Calderdale and Huddersfield hospitals as well as Kirkburton and Sowerby Bridge practices. I was delighted to be offered the position of Partner at Skelmanthorpe Family Doctors in 2003 and have remained here since. From 2014 - 2021 I was the Chair of the Greater Huddersfield CCG and still have a keen interest in clinical leadership. I am currently the Clinical Director for The Mast Primary Care Network and a Primary Care Advisor to the North East and Yorkshire Region Diagnostics Board.

As a GP, I specialise in Minor Surgery, Diabetes and am the Practice Safeguarding Lead for adults and children.

MB ChB 2003 MRCGP DRCOG DFSRH Sheffield - Part Time Partner

I qualified as a Doctor in 2003 from The University of Sheffield. I carried out my Pre-registration house jobs in Huddersfield before going on to train as a GP on the Wakefield and Pontefract GP training scheme, working as a registrar in Almshouse Medical Centre in Wakefield and Tieve Tara Medical Centre in Castleford. I worked as a salaried GP in Golcar before becoming a Partner here in Skelmanthorpe in 2012. During this time I have also worked as a speciality doctor in Contraception and Sexual Health for Locala in and around Kirklees. I was Clinical Director of The Mast PCN between 2019 and 2023. My special interests as a GP include Contraception and all aspects of Womens Health.

The Practice employs reception and administration staff, a data clerk and a medical summariser.

Our team of receptionists are happy to deal with any queries that you may have. 

Advanced Clinicial Pharmacist - conducts minor illness appointments and medication reviews. Is able to process referrals, if required. 

Primary Care Network Pharmacist - conducts structured medication reviews and rheumatoid arthritis reviews.

The surgery has one attached midwife who is employed by Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust. When a pregnancy has been confirmed, pregnant ladies should book an appointment to see the midwife at approximately six weeks or if diagnosis is after that time as soon as is practicable. The midwife will complete the necessary booking forms.  The midwife will then contact you again between 12 and 14 weeks.
