Community Midwives

The surgery has one attached midwife who is employed by Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust.  When a pregnancy has been confirmed, pregnant ladies should book an appointment to see the midwife at approximately six weeks or if diagnosis is after that time as soon as is practicable.  The midwife will complete the necessary booking forms.  The midwife will then contact you again between 12 and 14 weeks

Community Nurses

The district nurses are based at Skelmanthorpe Health Centre. Their contact telephone number is 0300 3045555.

Health Visitors

The Health Visitors are based at Skelmanthorpe Health Centre and they will normally contact you the week after coming home with a new baby.  If you need to contact the health visitors their contact telephone number is 01484 467619.

In addition health visitors do checks on small children and are an invaluable source of information on other matters:

  • Advice on pregnancy
  • Information about childhood immunisations
  • Antenatal classes
  • Feeding problems
  • Behavioural problems
  • Toilet training
